Ayurvedic Drinks | Green Juice Recipes for Beginners and Weight Loss
These homemade ayurvedic drinks are made simple and in the blender. The best green juice recipes for beginners and weight loss.
Ayurvedic drinks target the alleviating energies of the doshas through the ingredients used in the recipes.
Kale Apple Ginger Lemonade
This green juice is best for kapha dosha as it contains the bitter (kale) astringent (apple) and pungent (ginger) tastes. These are all alleviating tastes for the kapha dosha as they are made up of air, ether and fire, the opposing elements of kapha (earth and water).
What you’ll need:
– 1 apple
– 1 bunch of kale
– 1 lime or lemon
– 1 knob of ginger
– 2 cups of water
Loosely chop and toss everything in the blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes. Option to add more water to thin it out, or strain it for a finer finish. Enjoy at room temperature.
Cucumber Mint Chia Fresca
This green juice is best for pitta dosha as it contains all energetically cooling ingredients, these will help pitta internally cool off.
What you’ll need:
– 3 mini cucumbers or 1 big
– handful of mint leaves
– 1/2 lime or lemon (lime is cooling, lemon is warming)
– 1 tbsp chia seeds (don’t add to blender)
– 2 cups of water
Add all ingredients (except chia seeds!) to blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes. Stir in chia seeds at the end. Option to let sit to allow the chia seeds to absorb extra moisture. Drink at room temperature.
** It’s important to note that drinking juices and smoothies at room temperature is BEST. Drinking anything cold or with ice will dampen your agni (digestive fire) and make it more difficult for you to properly digest food. A weakened agni can lead to gas, heartburn, upset stomach and sluggish digestion.
My blessings to you and your green juice days.
Have a rainbow,
Clare
